President William Ruto has credited Kenya’s economic progress to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), saying the government's strategic programmes and policies, rolled out since 2022, are beginning to yield tangible results.
Speaking at State House, Nairobi, on Friday during a meeting with Maa community elders and leaders from ten counties, the President noted significant improvements in key sectors of the economy.
He highlighted a sharp drop in inflation—from 9.6% in 2022 to the current 3.5%—as well as increased output in maize, tea, and sugarcane production, alongside improved market prices for coffee and milk.
Among those present at the meeting were Governors Joseph ole Lenku (Kajiado), Patrick ole Ntutu (Narok), and Jonathan Lelelit (Samburu), together with 25 Members of Parliament.
Ruto emphasized that his administration’s policy decisions are paying off, noting, "Thanks to the choices we’ve made together as a nation, our economy has now found firm footing."
He also appealed to the elders to champion equal access to education, urging them to ensure that all children, regardless of gender, are given the opportunity to attend school.
President Ruto emphasized the importance of education, urging the Maa community not to lag behind.
He called on parents to ensure that all children, both boys and girls, are given equal opportunities to attend school.
He also urged leaders to shun divisive politics and instead foster unity for national peace and cohesion.
"To effectively tackle the issues affecting our citizens, we must come together as one people and reject tribal-based politics," he said.
Governor Lenku pledged the Maa community’s support for the government’s development agenda.
Senator Ledama ole Kina echoed the sentiment, expressing unwavering backing for President Ruto’s leadership and vision.
"I am here to personally affirm my full support for the President’s mission to drive the country forward," he stated.
